Welfare To Work Program

Program Description
Welfare to Work vouchers target families who need housing assistance to obtain or retain viable employment.  Individuals could use these new vouchers to move closer to new jobs or to reduce long and cumbersome commuting patterns. 

Eligibility
The family must not be receiving tenant-based assistance under Section 8 and must meet the Section 8 eligibility requirements.  When initially selected, the family must fit into one of the following TANF-related categories:

• Family is eligible to receive assistance or services funded by TANF (or)

• Family is currently receiving assistance or services funded by TANF (or)

• Family has received assistance or services funded by TANF within the last two years

• Section 8 tenant-based assistnace must be critical to the family's ability to obtain or retain employment.

Application
At the present time, the waiting list for this program is closed.  BCHA will advertise the opening of the next waiting list in the newspaper and on this website.
