Q: Can the Housing Authority terminate my Section 8 rental assistance?
A: Yes.

Q: What reasons can the Housing Authority terminate my housing assistance?
A: Your housing assistance can be terminated for the following reasons:

• Violation of any of the Section 8 Family Obligations including serious or repeated violations of the lease agreement
• Previous eviction of any family member from public housing (drug-related or violent crime)
• Outstanding rent, damages, vacancy loss, other debts owed to the Housing Authority or another Housing Authority in connection with the Section 8 or Public Housing programs
• Breach of an agreement with a Housing Authority to repay the Authority for any money due
• Failure of any family member to sign and submit HUD or Housing Authority required consent forms
• Failure to fulfill family obligations under the Section 8 Welfare-to-Work voucher program
• Abusive or violent behavior toward Housing Authority personnel

Q: What are the Section 8 Family Obligations?
The Section 8 Family Obligations are program requirements established by HUD for participation in the Section 8 Program.  The family obligations are found in the Section 8 voucher form that you sign as a participant.  A copy is provided to you at certification and each time you request to move.

Q: If I am terminated what can I do if I don't agree with the charges?
A: You  have the right to request a hearing to present the facts to support your case for not terminating your assistance.

Q: If I am terminated from the Section 8 program, can I reapply?
A: Yes, but you will placed on the waiting list.  When your name comes up on the waiting list the Authority will conduct a thorough review of your termination to determine whether you can be admitted to the program.
