portability procedures

If you are requesting to transfer under portability, your Housing Authority must send or fax your portability packet to this agency as listed below, before you will be seen:

Once your packet has been received, you must call Violet Vassall at the number above to schedule an appointment to complete the intake process.

All family members 18 years of age and older will be required to attend the intake interview.

Household members 18 years of age and older must submit a current criminal background check from the Police Department from the area you are transferring.

You will also  be required to submit the following verifications:
Birth Certificates of all family members
Social Security Cards for all family members
Immigration Cards (if applicable)
Verification of household income
Bank statements, etc.

Once you have completed the intake process, you will be required to attend orientation. All adult members of the household (18 years of age and older) are also required to attend. Broward County Housing Authority will issue a voucher based on the dates the voucher was issued by your former Housing Authority.

After orientation you will:

 Locate a unit
Have appropriate papers completed and signed
Submit papers to Housing Authority in person or via US Mail
Unit will be inspected within 7 to 10 days from date Broward County Housing Authority received papers providing it is ready for inspection

Please be advised you are responsible for your own living accommodations while going through the transfer process.
