BCHA Housing Counseling Program is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency that may help you with these and other questions about homeownership.

Foreclosure

  - Default/Delinquency

If you are facing foreclosure we may be able to help.  To schedule an appointment with a Housing Counselor to discuss the options available to you, complete the Pre-Application for Mortgage Assistance form and submit to us.

  - Learn How to Prevent Foreclosure

Educational workshops are offered on the fourth Saturday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Registration required. To register, complete the Foreclosure Prevention Registration Form and submit to us.

First Time Homebuyers Workshop

The First Time Homebuyers Workshops educate prospective homebuyers on the following topics:

  • Discussion on the role of the buyer/seller and the various professionals involved
  • Questions to assess readiness to buy
  • Preparing for home purchase
  • Understanding credit, mortgage financing, tax relief programs, predatory lending and fair housing issues

The workshop is intended to help prospective homebuyers understand the home purchase process and allow them to determine their readiness to purchase a home in Broward County. Workshops are held on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM and the third Friday of each month from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. These workshops are free of charge and are held at the BCHA offices at 4780 North State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33319. Registration is required. Register for a First Time Homebuyers Workshop.

General Post-Occupancy Counseling

Offers counseling to homeowners that need help to resolve their housing related issues by reviewing their personal housing situation. Schedule an appointment.

Financial Literacy/Budgeting & Credit Workshop

The Financial Literacy/Budgeting & Credit Workshop educates current and prospective homeowners on the following topics:

Money Management: 

  • Learn new approaches, ideas to money management
  • Identify personal goals and steps to achieve these goals 

Budgeting: 

  • Develop a realistic budget
  • Learn money saving tips 
  • Learn how to track your spending
  • Create a spending plan

Credit: 

  • Understanding your credit report
  • Preventing identity theft 
  • Steps to restore your credit rating

The workshop is intended to help current and prospective homeowners develop and learn basic money management skills and smart ways to use credit.  Participants will gain tips on developing good savings habits, how to maintain a budget, and understand the importance of maintaining good credit.  Workshops are held on the fourth Friday of each month from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
